My mercury monteneer is all weel drive but the 4x4 are always working, how can i turn then off???
Yes all the wheels are getting some power in one way or another on these rigs, there is no way to "turn it off" the transfer case has internal clutches that dictate where more or less power is sent too could be front could be rear, then the traclok decides on what wheel is fed that power, right, left on either axle, complicated system at best. Now if the internal transfer case clutches have locked up that can give you 100% 4X4 all the time, and that can make for a really horrible ride, you can have bucking when turning at any speed, more drivetrain howl than normal fuel mileage drop drastically. It would be very unpleasant drive. So what are experancing as you drive?
