My suv won't stay started

My suv keeps dying. It was running good after
we put gas it started hesitating and than keeps
dying. We pulled a trailer and after that my
check engine light went on

The next step would be to scan for the OBDii trouble codes since the CEL is on and you have issue. That will give you the trouble codes to help you find the issue.
