Overheating

Asked by Karrissavawter Apr 16, 2019 at 05:32 PM about the 2002 Mazda Protege ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there a second thermostat

No second thermostat. Make sure your coolant level in the radiator and overflow bottle is topped up. Also check that the radiator fans come on when needed. It might just be a false high temp reading but don't ignore a "hot engine" warning. Take an infrared temp gun reading at the thermostat housing. Should be about 195-210F degrees.
