2000 lincoln ls fuel system

driving down the interstate my 2000 lincoln ls just died as if it ran out of gas ,
but had not. So I replaced the fuel pump with a new one and it still would not
start. If I use a jumper wire to the hot wire and the negative wire, the car will run
but I need to fix it properly. What can I do to fix my fuel supply system? It is the
Lincoln LS with the V-8,, 3.9
