Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I LOSE POWER WHEN I TURN ON MY HEATER OR DEFROST. I KNOW THERE IS AN INITIAL BRIEF "LAG" OR LOSS OF POWER ON MOST CARS WHEN YOU TURN THE HEATER FAN ON BUT IT REPEATEDLY LAGS EVERY 15-20 SECONDS AND SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS LABORING ABNORMALLY HARD.  JUST REPLACED ALTERNATOR & BATTERY CHECK IS FINE

A/c pressure cycling switch cycles pump to remove damp from the air in defrost, mix, as well as a/c settings. when the evap suction line pressure drops below the setting of the switch, it kicks out the pump to prevent damage to the pump. This results in a time relatable cycling. That's typical and expected. If the engine runs or idles poorly, it can drag the engine down in speed. maintenance and repair of driveability systems can restore idle quality.
