I believe your Jeep has a fully automatic four wheel drive. "Part time" would mean it comes on automatically when wheel spin is detected, and shuts off when not needed. Therefore it's okay to drive like that year round. I believe there is selector switch that allows the driver to override "part time" and have it on 100% during slippery, and only during slippery conditions. Short answer: Leave it on "part time" year round.

Hornet2497 is correct. I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport. The part time light goes off and on when you need it, it automatically goes into four wheels grabbing independent. Say you're driving in the rain and one wheel slides a bit....it will kick in so the other wheels compensate basically. Now you can't go off road and expect it to jump into 4wd. Its for daily driving and snow driving.

Mine goes on part time if i engage the left lever next to gear shaft in a standing position.

Other then that on RWD it doesnt say "part time!" Unless 4WD lever is engaged in non moving position
