do I NEED to have sensors in my tires?

I have 2 slow leaks and I wanted to get 2 new tires. They tell me my sensors
need to be replaced also and they cost $130 per tire!! NOT including the tires

unless the sensors are not reporting a failure, you wouldn't need new sensors. Possibly new gaskets for your existing sensors (probably $10), and assuming the tire pressure sensors are what you are referring to. Also, new sensors cost about $40 from o'reillys around here.

Look up tire pressure monitors on Amazon. You can get an entire system for less than one sensor price that you were quoted. Shop around.

I think if Like me I have Been driving around for 54 years without them I dont need them.

Technology. Geez! I've been driving close to 50 years, and I'm pretty certain if I don't have the sense to know to check my tire pressure from time to time for good gas milage and wear, then I shouldn't be driving! Just another thing to light up on the dashboard, another part to sell you from the manufacturer, another thing to "worry" about. Oh, I know. If it isn't broken, you better fix it cause you got to keep the parts companies happy and fat!
