Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 Ford Taurus has no air blowing from the front vents or foot vents, I can hear
the motor running when I switch the air to the front vents, but air will only blow through
the defrost vents. Besides that problem, the heat & AC is not working, in the summer it
blows hot air and in the winter ice cold air. There is a RIDICULOUS amount of
condensation inside the car during rainy days and on cold mornings the outside AND
the inside of the front and back windshields are FROZEN solid to the point that an ice
scraper does absolutely nothing and the defrost is not working so its very frustrating.
We have put this issue on the back burner for a while because we recently replaced
the engine, transmission and entire cooling system....PLEASE can anyone point me in
the right direction? I cant do another winter like this!!

Sounds like you have a bad heater core..... make sure you watch the temp because that is mist of antifreeze you thinks is condensation.

also im pretty sure that's a vacumeline bad or not on that switches from panel to defrost to floor ect... I would take it back to who put the motor in for that issue because that's where it came from.

Jjmtuttle the problem existed before we replaced the engine. The heat and air hasn't worked in 2 years but we had a 2nd car so it wasn't a priority to fix. Then the transmission went a year & a half ago, then December of last year the coolant system & engine went. So it wasn't caused when the engine was replaced & the car hasn't been over heating

if your heater core is plugged the coolant wont flow correctly you will not get heat ....hence the coolant system and engine going out last year. I would start with looking into heater core then maybe seeing if the ac just needs recharge might have nothing to do with the other issues. the switching from panel vent to floor and defrost could be the switch or vacume line I suspect. hope this helps..
