No ignition power

Asked by MoPounds Apr 18, 2019 at 03:38 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had intermittent problem with no power to dash
and no ignition. Now my truck wont start at all.
Has new battery and terminal ends. I have
headlights and under hood lights but no
instrument cluster lights and no ignition. I just
replaced the ignition switch, thinking it had a short
but no help there. Anyone know where to go next

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good, positive and negative, at all ends, not just at the battery. Note the diagram for ignition switch, The two red wires on top of ignition switch, in the diagram, they are voltage to ignition switch, hot all the time, check those wires for voltage, hot all the time, use a test lite to check for voltage. There are fusible links that feed the two red wires. Probably one of the positive battery connections goes to battery junction block, you'll probably find many fusible links. One way to check fusible link is to see if it will stretch, if it does it's probably faulty, replace. In the diagram, the bottom wires should be feed/voltage from the ignition switch.
