1985 chevy 350

I have a 1985 chevy 350.
When I try to start it up its
kinda hard and while
driving it randomly dies
and I have to put gas into
the carburetor. I just can't
figure it out. Please help!

It's a brand new pump and a brand new filter. It ran until my cusin parked it about a year ago and I now have time to work on it.

Check the electric choke. See if it is closed when cold and slowly opens up fully which doesn't take very long.
