Lost reverse

I have a 94 2005 chevy silverado 5.7 I lost reverse
and think my over drive is messed up two have
been told to check the seloniods  and linkage and
other Idea or opinions

You can have the vehicle scanned for codes that would indicate anything electrical with the solenoids
