Truck won't start

Asked by Anthonytahoe Sep 10, 2016 at 02:41 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe z71 5.7L. when I
first got it I had no problems then the radio
stopped turning on then my 4x4 service light
will come on then the cluster lights will start
flickering  then i will "bog" down when trying
to accelerate. This all started happening
then when i go to crank my truck it won't
turn on like it wasn't  getting fuel so I check
my rail and it had fuel. I hit it with starter
fluid and it starts up. I couple of weeks after
happening the first time (which it was a
consistent problem during that time) it
stopped then a few weeks went by again
and now it's doing it. I really need help
thanks guys

I would check for corrosion some where my under hood fuse block or at battery. I would also do a voltage drop test at a few different spots. It sound to me that you are loosing voltage to components. And when cranking they might not be enough voltage to operate fuel injectors or other things but start working when the key is let off and the starter stops working. Which could be why it starts on starter fluid and then runs after the start disengages because the injectors start working. Just a thought hope it's helps a little
