Will Hyundai Cover My 2016 Santa fe Sport Engine

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm just wondering what other people have experienced
when dealing with engine warranty claims with Hyundai.

I have a 2016 Santa fe Sport 114k and it appears that the
engine failed while my wife was taking the kids to an
appointment.

My mechanic said it's most likely the bearings in the
engine. Hyundai is going to do their own diagnostics on it
to determine if it's the engine.

I have all my receipts dating back to 2017 and my oil
changes are done every 5000k with semi synthetic oil and
new filter. There was a recall I believe in 2019 for the KDS
update, knock detection software update. I had my Hyundai
in at my local Hyundai dealer in 2020 but it turns out that
they never did the recall update because when I called to
book an appointment the service advisor told me I had
outstanding recalls.

Will hyundai decline my engine replacement because the
recall update wasn't done even though I told the service
advisor to service any outstanding recalls back in 2020 at
the time my vehicle was being repaired?

On a 7 year old vehicle with 114,000 miles on it they'll find a reason to deny your claim. It will probably cost more than the vehicle is worth to fix it as well. My advice is trade it in as is. Jim

It's actually only 114kms which is just over 70 miles.
