I have a 1998 honda accord. the temp rises to 3\4 after about 30 min of high way travel. I turn the heat on high and it returns to normal. Is this due no a poorly functioning radiator? I did change the thermostat a few months ago.
That sure sounds like it, but make sure the hoses and radiator cap are in good condition first.
I had a 1995 Honda Accord, and the normal range is just a little below the middle line of the temperature gauge. I agree with tennis shoes above, your car's radiator fins are probably getting ineffective and clogged, I would purchase a brand new radiator. You don't want to overheat this car. Replacement of the radiator, hoses, new coolant, etc will be a lot cheaper than rebuilding the engine.
It's a 1998 , don't tell us that you didn't think you got your money's worth on this part!
It could also be a defective or failing water temperature sending unit or air trapped in the system.
