Windstar Won't Start

Asked by May 10, 2017 at 01:44 PM about the 2001 Ford Windstar SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Windstar I purchased a few months
ago. I cranks but won't start. I replaced the fuel
pump and it ran well for about two weeks and then
back to no start condition. All sensors,  crankshaft
ect, check out fine as well as all connections and
grounds at the underhood fuse box. Plugs and
wires check out as well as fuel pressure. Thinking
it was an ignition control issue,  I replaced the
computer. They flashed it according to my VIN and
sent two keys with it. Van started and ran well for a
few weeks now back to no start condition. I came
to the opinion it may be the PATS tranceiver...inpart
to your great forum...so i took the dash apart. I
found a box labeled valet with spliced wires. I also
have an antenna on my windshield that says hf
plus. After googling is this an aftermarket alarm or
bypass of the alarm? Before i spend another 100 to
200 bucks on a tranceiver I wanted to post here.
How can I get my van running again? Thanks in
advance.

Replaced ignition switch and ripped out the remote start...which was the vzlet box thing. All wires under the dash are now back to normal. Now the van wony even crank. Finally bought a volt meter to chase down the issue. My key authenticates with the pats okay. No blinking theft light. Relays appear okay. Switched out the starter switch relay and i can feel it click/engage when the key is turned to start position. Do i check yhe starter now? It was fine but now it won't crank.
