it may be trying, if doors still work, sounds like lock latch jammed in lock position, no manual pull button? to unlock,,,,,,,may need entry from inside plastic rear panel, shift lock rod up, ^ ,,a fun job ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SIGNAL to controller to reley to all motors at 5 locks

That was not a very helpful answer at all. You have pointed out the goal but didn’t even try to explain how to get there. First of all, Honda should have put a hatch release button inside the drivers compartment. Second, if the button on the tailgate doesn’t work then either the linkage has come loose from the lock cylinder or the cylinder is loose and not getting enough pull on the linkage. First try to remove the lock cylinder and see if you can reach the linkage so you can pull it and open the hatch. Then remove the plastic panel on the tailgate and you will be able to access the linkage and replace the cylinder if necessary. You might only need to replace a C clip or linkage clip that came loose. Honda should have put a hatch release button in the drivers compartment also. Would have made life much easier.

Haha....I put my key in my gate door and the whole cylinder came out with it. Lol the casing broke and I still have an open internal panel to unlock the darn thing. Doorman has a cylinder that I have ordered for it but if you go to a junk yard get one from a passport of your year or a Rodeo and take it to a lock Smith they can re-set it to your key. Oh ya you may want to look at all your plastic clips most auto stores carry them but you may have to get a large case full to get the ones you need I had to.
