98 honda civic ex. Speed sensor was changed but needle still jumps. Is it possible the wrong sensor was bought if so how can I be sure I bought the right one

Does this have a cable too that plugs into the sensor or just the sensor?

Some vehicles have just the sensor that plugs into the transmission that works off the PCM. Others have a sensor and a cable that runs to the instrument cluster. Not every vehicle is fixed by cleaning a ground wire! (judgeee)

well as you know there is a "Voltage regulator" on the back of the instruments that require a precise reading on the available resistance from a known voltage...this digital device doesn't have any "horse sense" and just takes the available amperage and voltage at the time...so as I've asserted steady power will make it behave.....and NOT diagnosing this remedy for all cars...well alright ALL cars need this done...to assure steady 12 volts and all the needed amperage....BUT...automakers such as Mercedes use TWO main grounds...one for the engine with the starter and one for the dashboard components and ignition and fuel injection...they separate the high-demand from the medium demand for Clean Power to the ECU and other delicates~

perhaps this one DOES have some regulation circuitry for the speedometer...but I don't think so...it's a Honda~

The guy said he had replaced it. So to make sure I replaced it myself yesterday and now it doesn't move at all?!

The gear that it rides on in the transmission must be worn.
