My 2003 Accord will not go into "Park"

Asked by Jun 07, 2015 at 04:57 PM about the 2003 Honda Accord EX V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Its an automatic tranmission and will only go into Reverse, Neutral and Drive.  It will not go into Park.  Which means right now it is in my garage with the keys in them, since i can't put the car into Park to release the keys.

Ok, this is usually the other way around. But maybe, just maybe the same thing the gets it out of Park will allow you to get it IN. There may be a slot as shown. Stick key in slot and see if it will then go in to Park - key on. If yours does not have that slot, then there should be a plastoc tab as shown, click on image. Use a flat screwdriver and pry tab off, then push on white plastic tab underneath. This is shifterlock override. Like I say, every forum and place I looked they say 'can't get OUT of Park. But I dunno, just a thought to try. click image
