2003 honda accord jumps and bucks after 1 second during start two starts after installing a new starter

Asked by Dustin Mar 18, 2015 at 07:30 PM about the 2003 Honda Accord DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Honda Accord with 130k on it. the timing chain and all components
were replaced at 125k miles. I just had a starter go bad on me over the weekend and
just replaced the starter this morning. It started and ran fine all day (3 separate starts)
But now all of a sudden it will attempt to start and then immediately begins to buck
me very hard, it sounds as if the starter is not meshing with the gear but the original
nor the replacement had starter shims so i'm confused as to what the problem could
be. it a pretty violent sound, please help asap as this is the car my daughter rides in
and with the weather here I absolutely cannot afford to have us get stranded

You need to be more clear. Is the car starting and then bucking and jumping when you try to drive, or is the car jumping and bucking when you turn the key to try to start it? Is the car an automatic or manual transmission?

it is when i attempt to start it and it is an automatic transmission (k24a4)

Sorry Dustin, you are still not giving anyone anything to work with here. You have to try to give a better explanation of exactly what the car is doing when you try to start it. You say "it will attempt to start and then immediately begins to buck me very hard". What exactly does that mean? Is the engine running but the car is jerking and bucking when you try to drive it, or do you mean the engine does not actually start but is bucking or jumping around while it tries to start, or does the car actually move while you are trying to start it, like it is in drive and moving forward while you are trying to start it? We can't offer any help or suggestions with your description.
