2016 Ford Explorer Sport Rough Idle

Asked by Guru23N48 Mar 07, 2020 at 03:40 PM about the 2016 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2016 Sport start to idle rough at light and felt like it would stall.  The dealer
diagnosed as a bad timing chain.  Now, they have come back and said the
turbos are bad and need to take engine apart again.  Does this make sense?  I
feel like they are scamming me.

AMEN! Run from this shop as quickly as possible and get a second opinion. Be careful about how this guy puts your car back together and does not "create" another problem. Very doubtful the timing chain is the problem as "Ed" has already said. Turbos are problematic but, in this case, it appears he is a little off base throwing their repair into your repair requirements. Better Business Bureau should be on speed dial so you can call them when you rescue the car from this shop.
