NEW 2015 CHEROKEE FLOOR AIR VENT "DOOR ACTUATOR PROBLEMS"
BRAND NEW CHEROKEE, WHEN ON AUTO SETTING-UPPER DEFROST VENT IS VERY LOUD, ON DEFROST SETTING -IT IS FINE AND SOUNDS NORMAL, ON DASHBOARD SETTING -THE AIR FLOW IS STONG AND NORMAL, WHEN SET TO DASH/FLOOR SETTING- THE AIR DIVERTS THE FLOOR FOR A SPLIT SECOND BUT THEN DEFAULTS TO LOUDLY COMING OUT THE DEFROST AREA. (IN ADDITION TO COMING OUT THE DASHBOARD VENT). JEEP SAYS IT IS NORMAL, THAT ALL SETTINGS HAVE SOME AIR COMING OUT BY THE DEFROST. I HAVE CHECKED ALL THE SETTINGS WITH A PIECE OF PAPER ALONG THE DEFROST VENTS FOR TESTING PURPOSES. OF COURSE ON DEFROST THE PAPER GOES FLYING. ON STRAIGHT DASHBOARD THE PAPER DOESN'T MOVE, WHEN I SWITCH IT TO DASH/FLOOR THE PAPER STARTS MOVING AGAIN. THE BIGGEST ISSUE FOR ME IS THE NOISE THAT THE DEFROST VENT MAKES WHEN THE FLOOR SETTING IS ON... IT IS LOUD! MORE LOUD THAT JUST THE DEFROST SETTING ALONE. WETHER THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, OR JUST A VENT DOOR NOT OPENING PROPERLY, IT IS OBVIOUS AND NOISY.
Turn the fan speed down.
Hard to say but this really does not sound like a problem. Those Auto settings have a mind of their own. I would find settings that you like and leave them that way. You could always call or visit another dealer and get their take on it.
