Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I tried moving the steering wheel and other little tricks. I think the ignition has
gone bad. Anything that might help other than replacing it. I looked up the part it
is very expensive. I am not sure I could do the job myself.

Once they seize up there is not much hope of an easy fix. Your right about not doing this job your self cause that security system will need to be reprogrammed to recognize then replaced parts. Now some locksmiths have knowledge and equipment to do the job and it will be a bit cheaper that a shop doing it but they few in number. Hopefully you can’t find a locksmith a good independent shop can otherwise you stuck with the dealership and yes it will be a budget breaker.
A failed ignition switch is the most likely cause for the key resisting movement. You could remove it and check for broken parts. Then go to a salvage yard for a replacement; but you might be getting another bad switch anyway.
