My back windshield wiper wont work

Asked by Shayne Nov 29, 2022 at 12:42 PM about the 2000 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The other day I was using my windshield wipers when it was raining and I
tried using the back windshield wiper but it wouldn't work. So I had my friend
go into the back while I pressed the button to get windshield wiper to work
and he said he heard the motor but the wiper just didn't want to budge. So
what I am wondering is this a bad fuse or something else because the front
windshield wipers work all the time.

Check the nut that holds the wiper arm on, it maybe loose so the shaft just spins inside the arm.

Remember back in the 1970s when every car owner knew simple mechanics and had common sense... There should be a law!

I can remember the 70's very well and a lot of people didn't know a thing about vehicles, maintenance or much of anything else. Hop in start it up and drive away, if it didn't start then into the shop it went and cry about how this could happen. Common sense was in danger back then, today it has died.

I remember the beaters my father had , 62 Lincoln , 68 olds 442 , ford cyclone , 38 pontiac , an old satellite , ventura , I had a few relics myself . 72 challenger , 72 lemans , 72 malibu , 69 impala

I bet you wish you had even a few of those in your garage.

If it has been a long time since you used the rear wiper it may be melted onto the glass. Not a big deal but try to lift the blade away from the glass before changing motor or linkage parts. If it comes loose, all you need is a new blade.
