My check engine came on

This morning my check engine light came on on my 2014 ford focus. When we
went to take it in to have it checked, it turned off. I don't know what the issue
could be and mechanic said without light on can't really check what might be
wrong with it, I guess there is a machine they hook it up to. Is this an issue?

Not true! Even if the check engine light goes off the trouble code is stored in the computer for another 60 or so ignition cycles. I'd suggest taking it to another mechanic!! Hope that helps! Jim
