Question type: Car Customization

Is it safe to upgrade a 2014 Kia
Optima SX turbo 12 volt system to a
14 volt system without damaging any
electrical components?

A 14V alternator will charge at 16 to 17 volts which would probably fry your cars electronics. If this is for a stereo to damage your hearing you should isolate the 14V from the rest of the car and confine it to the stereo only.

14 volt system charges at 16.8 volts. Some modern day cars can handle that type of voltage. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried it in the Optima. If some components can't handle it there are resistors that can be put in place to lower voltage to any item that needs it. And I know how to isolate stereo amplifiers in a car.
