Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2011 CVPI with a bad transmission. One place wants $3300 & gives
a 100k mile warranty. Aamco wants $2000 just to say 'hello'. Down in Otay I
got a guy who'll do everything for $1100 ($700 for tranny, $400 for labor).
Then the pick your part junkyard has a 2011 in there and they only want
$160 for the tranny.  How difficult is it really to swap tranny's? I wasnt born
with a golden crescent wrench in my hand, but I've been working on my own
cars since I started driving, So I know which end of a screwdriver to use. My
concern is the little tricks. the things you can only know from experience. Any
help &/or advice would be appreciated. I dont have the budget to pay
anybody else to do it right now, but i have to have transportation. thanks.

Your only 3 clicks away from so many Youtube videos showing how to do this..With basic skills and study you can do this. Planning... Study this change out for 3 hours, confirm you have all necessary basic tools recruit an assistant for the positioning of the transmission, finally do NOT be in a hurry even if this takes a beginner 8-10 hours divide the work over 2 days. decide what your going to spend your extra 2000+ dollars on in the future. or pay to have done.
