2014 Chevy suburban

Asked by Guru9TFKFJ Nov 18, 2021 at 02:51 AM about the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LTZ 4WD

Question type: General

Will a mistake from a mechanic in replacing my suburban engine cause my
transmission to go bad? I had a engine problem and was told by the
dealership that I needed a new engine. I spend$11,000.00 to get my engine
replaced. After few days the truck won't move in gear, I took it to the
dealership and was told that my transmission went bad and I needed a new
transmission. What could have gone wrong in replacing the engine.

I would try a tranny shop for a second opinion don't tell them about the dealer but they may ask when they recognize that some work was done .. It's certainly possible that it died by pure coincidence .

What was the problem with the original engine to cause it to be replaced?

I’ve seen this happen many times, you fix a bad engine with a replacement then the new engine ruins the automatic transmission, this is more prevalent with today’s transmission as everything is computer controlled so there’s no real warning it’s ready to quit. So no, I doubt anything was done wrong but they sure got into your pocket on that job.

Time to cut your losses and trade it in for a vehicle that wants to run! Jim
