Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Ford Escape. I am having an issue
where the tailgate door latches but I can’t get door
ajar alarm to go off. I had an issue with it not
latching but I got that corrected. I noticed inside the
latch that the was two metal pieces that were glued
together but seem to have come apart. I thought
that was what activated the sensor, but now I am
not sure. I have a picture below. Any help would be
appreciated.

Is it suppose to be glued together. I was assuming that because there was spot on it that looked like glue. I tried pushing together two parts manually with door up and warning didn’t go off, but there may be another sensor that detects for door being down.

How did you fix the latching issue? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.
