Motor Unit Number meaning

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Good Morning.
I have a 1986 Chevy S 10 with the 2.5l "iron duke" engine. I need to know
what the motor unit number CG2220714 (stamped on the left rear of the
block, where the transmission mounts) means. The engine is a Reman,( the
plate says "remanufactured" with the number 804456) but I don't know from
where.
I'm rebuilding this engine and there seems to be an issue with valve seals.
Evidently they were changed for 1987. So, I'm trying to determine what year
this engine was manufactured for.
Thank You for any info you can supply.

I'd measure the valve stem and guide to determine which seal kit I needed. It's also safe to assume that the engine was replaced with the newer version. But take the measurements to be sure. Hope that helps! Jim
