stuck gas peddle

Asked by 87ford Jul 08, 2016 at 08:05 PM about the 1987 Ford F-250 STD Standard Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Driving on the freeway I accelerated to
merge into trafic when gas peddle stuck.
Got off freeway and used brake and neutral
to park. When turning off ignition, engine
continued to run. So turned ignition back on
at this time the truck was backfireing.
Turned it off again and then a loud backfire.
This had blown a huge hole in the muffler.
So now my question is where do I check to
find the main problem before I replace the
muffler?
