5 speed manual swap with 4 speed manual??

Asked by matzie Feb 14, 2020 at 07:35 PM about the 1989 Ford F-250 XLT Lariat Extended Cab 4WD LB HD

Question type: General

I have an F250, 460, 4X4, 5 speed manual,  The transmission is sloppy and slips out of gear on deceleration. I want to replace it with a manual 4 speed transmission from a 1987 F250, wondering if it will bolt up??  Both trucks are 4X4 with the 460 engine.  Any problems I will be facing?  Thanks in advance

I think it will bolt in but you will lose OD.

If that's all then I will do the swap. No need for overdrive, this is just a camping rig. Thanks for your answer.
