My Clarion Motorhome has a 5.8 ford with a c-6 3 speed auto-tranny and a Borge-Warner transfer-case..they are not married but make it front wheel drive.
staying under 2500 rpm my cruising speed with best gas mileage now is
around 60.. is there a 4 or 5 speed auto that would bolt-up..Vehicle weight
This is a unique setup, I thought the only front wheel drive motorhomes were the FMC's. I would check with B&M tramsmissions to see if it can be updated.
Monster transmission says they would sell me a AOD tranny which is a 3 speed with an overdrive,, Not sure if I would gain much... B & M didn't seem to want to offer that set up
oops that was my answer
It all depends on the final drive of the overdrive part of the tranny, but unless it is beefed up a normal AOD will not handle the exteme loads a motorhome will have on it. You might try Gear Vendor, see if they might have something you can just add on to your existing drivetrain.
