Smoke or possible steam coming out of grill.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2014 Impala LT.  After driving about 4 miles and stopped at a red light I noticed smoke probably steam coming out from the hood--probably the grill.
I parked and opened the hood and it appeared to be coming out of the grill.  Has 26,000 miles on it.  The oil is O.K. and the anti-freeze appears O.K.   A few hours later I took out for a test drive for 20 minutes and put on 4 miles but no problem.  The temp gage read 180 Degrees but that doesn't seem unusual , I think.   Was never in the red zone.    Stumped.

You might be overly cautious. It still under warranty, bring it to dealer to start claim. Personally I think it's weather conditions had impact on what you saw as steam.

Just keep an eye on the coolant tank reservoir level, it is more consistent to check the level in the morning when it has sat overnight. coolant level should be at the cold level at this time.

I have a 2017 Impala and it is doing the same thing. I have taken my car to a local dealership several times to have it checked. I was told that there might be water blowing back from the front grille towards the radiator after it rains which is causing the steam/smoke to occur. Other than that, I was told that they could not find anything wrong with the car. The strange thing is that my car has been doing this for over a year now regardless if it has water on the front grille or not. It does not seem normal to me.

I have a 2014 Impala LTZ and have the same issue. At first I thought it was water splashing up from the road but it does it sometimes when the road is dry. Next stop dealer.
