no spark at ignition coil

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Does the ECM tell the ignition coil when to fire? I have a steady light on both
sides of the coil and it is not firing and no spark ? I run a small shop and work
by myself and the customer has replaced a lot of stuff and when i first
diagnosed it i thought it was a pick up coil. but that did not work , so i am down
to the ECM??

T_S_T this is a 1991 Dodge Dakota 5.2L and the Pick up coil is a Hall-effect switch and acts as a Cam/Crank Sensor and has been replaced. So with that said? I believe the PCM is the ground trigger for the coil to fire , voltage going into coil is in specs but on my ground side is the same and there is no pulse ? ? So i may have answered my own question, but i am looking for a second approval of having a bad PCM ?? Thank you !

Did you find the problem? Was it a splice? I’m having this same issue with my 91, 3.9, 4x4.
