03 excursion 7.3 engine won't start

You need another Ford Dealer! Having your vehicle for 3 months for a security system problem is outrageous!! Have they tested the body control module (BCM)? Jim

I guess I shouldn't have said "take your time I'm in no hurry"? But in answer to your question I seen the mechanics notes and printouts of all the tests and procedures that he has done including communication with Ford Tech Support. I never heard mention of a BCM. I heard PCM, ICM and the anti-theft module but vehicle will not communicate with Fords Computer. The service manager is having the mechanic use my vehicle as "fill in" work but I'm going to tell them it's time to make my vehicle a priority. However I am hoping to get some help with this issue so that I'm not paying shop labor for the technicians head scratching time.

The BCM should be looked at. Anything that's connected with the security system is suspect. I ran into a similar problem with my 94 Fleetwood two years ago. Long story short the Dealer charged me $700. to diagnose a security system problem and I knew their diagnosis was wrong. They said it was the ignition lock cylinder but I had just replaced that a year before. Then the security system locked down the vehicle and it wouldn't start at all! They finally got it started and I took it home as it was. I spent $700. for nothing! I got a factory shop manual for the vehicle and diagnosed it myself. It was the BCM in the trunk. I replaced it for $200 and it has been fine! My point is, someone else needs to look at your truck. Like my Fleetwood your truck is an older model and an older technician needs to look at it. I always recommend the Dealer but sometimes you have to be selective. When I dropped off the Fleetwood I asked for an older technician. The guy was in his 30s. Not a kid, but apparently not old enough to remember these vehicles. Please keep us posted on this! I hope you can get it fixed elsewhere for a reasonable price!! Jim
