How much tranny fluid do I use

Asked by GuruNCLYS Oct 26, 2019 at 08:24 PM about the 1983 Ford Bronco STD 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How much tranny fluid do I need to fill after I take
pan off and drain it

1 Answer

40,150

Automatic? Which is the AOD. You should replace with the same amount that comes out. But when your just removing the pan, you should replace the transmission filter as well. Most times half the fluid comes out of the roughly 12 quart capacity. I'd pick some DEX/MERC fluid, at least 6 to 8 quarts and take back what you don't use.
