Why am I having trouble starting my 1986 300zx Turbo.

Asked by Robert Feb 12, 2014 at 10:51 AM about the 1986 Nissan 300ZX 2 Dr Turbo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1986 300zx Turbo.  It starts up fine, but after I have driven it for a while and stop
for half an hour or more, she hard starts.  I have to crank it two or three times each time
pumping the accelerator to try and get it to catch.  It's cranking but just will not kick in.
After about 3 or 4 times she finally turns over and I have to rev it up so she won't shut
off.  I have changed plugs and wires; had the injectors cleaned; new gas filter; new air
filter, etc.  Help!

try replacing the crank angle sensor. had to do that for my Z. she wouldn't crank and if she did, I'd get down the road and she'd stop with no warning.
