99 intrepid very well taken care of has 281000km..... do i buy?
i have been thinkiong about buying this care. It has been very well taken care of but has high km. What is the life expectancy of these cars?
so thats like 175,000 miles on a 99? thats 20K a year...thats pretty high..if this is a 2.7 liter, which i believe ES were, then pass unlesss he wants next to nothing for it, those motors were prone to sludge if a strict 3000 mile oil change regiment wasn't kept. i've actually heard of some dealers doing 3.5 liter conversions before selling them again after a trade b/c they are such a troublesom motor...if it's a 3.5 on the other hand, those motors were the exact opposite and preform amazingly..there's alot of them rolling aorund still with 200,000+ miles on them....however i dunno how many of them have the original transmission behind them...something else to consider with that kind of mileage on a used car.
if u do buy this car, you definately have some change coming back to you.... take a 13 mm socket to the rear bench seat.... take it out, and your in for a big surprise..... A GOLDMINE!
we have a 00 intrepid with 285,000 on it and its been well taken care of and everything. the transmission and motor was changed around 150,000 so i would say that they have a pretty good life expectancy if they are taken care of.
id take it to a shop that you know and trust and ask for their opinion. all card are different some last very long time some dont.
@Divitonautoryan ......just so you don't waste your time......look at when the question was asked.....this one is from Sept. 2008 ,.....just trying to help you
