Clicking in the dashboard

Asked by GuruBZXVM Dec 09, 2018 at 01:05 AM about the 2013 Chevrolet Impala LTZ FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello. I have a 2013 Chevy Impala LTZ.  It's
making a loud clicking sound, coming from
the dashboard.  It comes on as soon as I
use the remote to unlock the car's doors. Or
when I start the car. I checked for codes but
none come up. A/c settings are acting up
and low tire pressure light is on. Would
appreciate any help. Thank you in advance!

I have a 2012 Chevy impala and mine does that. At first it would do that after I turn the heater off now it’s after I unlock the car.

I have a 2011 Chevy Impala and my car makes that loud clicking noise from the dash. It started in one place, and now when it goes off under the left side, it immediately starts again under the right or middle. It sounds like its coming from the OnStar speaker system because when I pushed the OnStar button (not enrolled), I could hear the speaker come on right before the voice begins, the same "coming on" sound I hear before the loud clicking begins. I called OnStar and was told that they could not do an assessment unless I enrolled and started services. When I went to get an oil change at the Chevy dealer and mentioned the clicking, I was told they would check it for a fee. I had a new attendant this time, not the lady I usually work with. However, when it has happened before, when I have gone in for an oil change, afterwards, the clicking would stop after the oil change. I even thought it was related to my need for an oil change because of the clicking's timing. This time, they didn't stop it. It is very annoying.

I have a 2006 Chevy Impala that does the same thing. Several of the actuators will alternate. One under the glove box starts when I hit the remote lock and then the one in the driver side dash gets really loud when I turn on the AC. It will run for about a minute and shuts off. However, the one on the passenger side starts up immediately after. It will run for a minute or two and then all is quite again until I turn the car off. It will then start back up for about two minutes before shutting off until I hit the remote again, starting the cycle all over again. The one under the glove box is super easy to fix while the one on the drivers side requires removing the dash, costing close to $500 (parts and labor) if you take it to the shop. Below is a link on how to replace yourself. https://youtu.be/pjPcHzMhPGU https://youtu.be/PrfRewosmKs

I have a 2004 impala that had the same issue. It was the blend door actuator acting up on mine. I fixed it last night and the part itself was $40 and took me about 30-45 mins to fix. Unscrewed the glove box and pulled it out and it was there on the left side. The guy at the parts store knew exactly what kind of car I had when I showed him the part because he said they go bad all the time in Impala's. I'm not a mechanic, just a diy'er so it's definitely something you can do yourself if you are handy.

It’s the AC doors knocking. They are notorious for breaking in Impala’s. Biggest reason why I ended up selling it. Even if you replace all of the AC doors with the manufacture ones it’ll still end up clicking. I’ve replaced them about 5-6 times a year.

Go a google search on the fix. Type in how to fix a clicking noise on a 20___ Implala and you will find many videos on the fix.
