my toyota corolla '12's rpm jumps up and down when Im stepping on my breaks. my car feels like it's losing power. when i step on gas the rpm would shoot up more than usual. im getting very frustrated. my engine tends to shake more than normal also. can someone help me and give me some advice?

Sounds like a vacuum leak in the power brakes. Highly recommend you get it fixed asap... I know it's easy for me to say, not my money. But otherwise this can happen

Your engine bay may not look identical to this but it shows my point. Make sure this hose is attached

Ok thanks for the feedback I don't know anything much about car at all. You don't think it have anything to do with the battery or air filters? This is stressful.

No. Nothing whatsoever with battery and very remote chance it's the air filter.. it would have to be very clogged, and if you drive on dirt roads often only would that happen. You can have a look at the filter to relieve that concern... it's two clips to access. No tools needed. It should be nice and white. click for full screen

Is your CEL- Check Engine light - lit up? I'm sticking with vacuum leak. I can understand the stress. A 2012 Corolla is a fine car that what you describe is unusual and should not happen.
