transfer case replacent

After 10 years + they may all need to be replaced and doing just one may not make sense because the rest are not far behind in the rebuild department , they all work together .

They know you're stranded away from home. If I were in your situation I'd have the truck towed home and get a more realistic estimate for the repairs. Putting that kind of money in an eleven year old vehicle is not worth it, in my opinion. Of course your other option is to just walk away from it. Which might not be a bad idea too! Jim

Mine is a 2013 and the transfer case went out at 98000 miles but that was all that was needed to get me back on the road, fortunately I found a used unit with a warranty and it only had 35000 miles on it, so far it’s worked great. As far as price for you that does seem high but everything has gone nuts. Did they give you breakdown of the costs? I think I would try to get it back home, maybe just get the transfer case redone and head back home or if your insurance has towing for long distance that would be better. UHaul truck with a trailer might be cheaper that a tow truck.
