My car was running well and went off in the
process...after that it won't crank even though all

check battery voltage, should be 12.4vdc. If battery is good and still won't turn over, check all battery cables for corrosion and make sure they're tight. If all cables are ok, check for voltage at the starter solenoid small terminal. If voltage is present and still no crank, replace starter

Well, when I had that problem there were 6 other people with the exact same problem and it was found to be the problem. It wouldn't turn over to completely crank because it needed to be replaced. But since you feel you know, good luck.

When you are done wasting money and guessing contact the dealer and let them charge you an arm and leg to replace it after they keep your car a few days or a week, but to replace the crank shaft senor. They will request that replace all the belts surrounding it as well all the belts together were $120 a Orilley

@kita - Can you share the link to the discussion where replacing the crankshaft sensor fixed the issue with the car not starting? Based on this article, I don't see how the crankshaft has anything to do with starting. https://www.doityourself.com/stry/symptoms-of-a-bad-crankshaft- sensor

When you have a failed crankshaft sensor, your car will continuously crank without starting - this is why people often misdiagnose a bad fuel pump, because it DOES crank but won’t start as if it doesn’t have gas. Also will usually not trigger a code on most vehicles. I have owned my independent repair facility for over 10 years. I can assure you whoever you took it to found it was a simple issue and decided to charge you, Kita, the arm and the leg. These Kia optimas have factory alarm issues that often have to just be reprogrammed by the dealer. You get a no crank, no start condition. Sorry.

Mine would not crank. Replaced the battery, still wouldn't crank. Removed alternator and had it checked. It was fine. Towed it to Kia, they said it was the remote starter. They "reset" it and it started fine.
