Honda Pilot 2009 Noise when starting
Car starts fine, but as final sound to starting, it makes a sound that is like a short burst of a horn or a squeal. Have found others online who also have same noise, but no explanation for what it is or if it indicates a problem. Why does it do this?
Have someone start the vehicle while you are watching the engine compartment. Listen carefully to the area of the serpentine belt. It could be a bearing in one of the pulleys.
Exactly, or you can remove the serpentine belt and start it. If you don't hear the noise, shut it off and spin the pulleys by hand. All should spin freely and without noise. HTH. -Jim
