Question type: Maintenance & Repair

That's a textbook problem with an exhaust restriction. Most catalytic converters last about hundred-thousand miles, and that's likely what you're experiencing; especially in a car that age.

what do the plugs look like ? Ignition upgrade ? Plugged converter , hit the gas and see if there's a healthy blast of exhaust .
