Losing engine power

Asked by Gage_72 Jan 27, 2017 at 11:42 AM about the 2011 RAM 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab

Question type: General

So I keep having my truck die as I'm driving down
the road in my 2005 ram 1500. I have asked
multiple people but they just don't seem to know
what it is. I don't lose electrical power just engine
power. It basically shuts off and I bump it down to
neutral and start it again and it starts back up no
problems? Does anybody know what it could be?
I've been told it could be a fuel pump

Could be the fuel pump or the fuel regulator. You would have to test with a fuel pressure gauge. Another thing would be a plugged catalytic converter would cause the engine to be holding back.

I had the same problem with my 2008 ram 1500, finally changed the pgr valve which is an easy task and haven't had that problem for 2 months now.

I had to have my 2006 towed recently because the truck would lose power and then die. It never appeared to be electrical either. Well it turns out , it was a faulty Throttle body. It cost me around $200.00 and an entire day but changing the throttle body was the culprit.

I have the same problem 2011 ram lose power then shuts off but if I start again it will start no problem
