I have a 1994 Concorde. I used the remote to open the trunk and now it will not latch closed. I can move the part which is supposed to go around the ring, but it won't stay in the latched position.

I confirmed that the mechanical parts work by putting a metal bar where the D-ring would go. I can't find anything physically blocking the trunk from closing. I unplugged the wiring. Now the trunk will latch shut, but I don't know what fixed it.
