can i use 20w50 oil in my ford escape 2012?

I have Ford Escape- 2.5L Duratec Engine model 2012 I here tappet sound in morning win the engine is cold  for one minute only I use oil 10w 30 can I use 15w40 to stop the sound

NOOO, that is too thick for your engine and cause it to tap more. Please use 5W-20 which is what's recommended in your owners manual. you can use 10W-30 in warmer climates.

Try using Sea Foam in the crankcase for the lifter noise. With the newer model cars thicker oil is not better.


It's a 2012. You are paying good money for it. Take it back to the dealer before attempting home remedies that could void your warranty. Start the demo cars and see if they make noise.
