Car smoking

Asked by GuruS3BDF Jun 22, 2019 at 05:53 PM about the 2012 Ford Escape Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2012 Ford Escape is smoking on the
passenger side white smoke and it barely movies
when it does. The problem only happens after
driving for awhile. Like, I can go to work @9am
everything is good but get off and in the middle of
driving home the care barley moves and after while
smokes. I was first told to add transmission fluid
then told to flush transmission now being told new
bands are needed. I am lost and in dyer need of
help.

If you're not a DIYer, you might want to take this to a mechanic. You don't mention if it's smoking from the tailpipe or just under the hood. From tailpipe the smoke can be from a blown head or intake gasket, cracked or warped head, exhaust leak, bad PCV, if it's under the hood you need to look for coolant leaks, if radiator/overflow is boiling over, bad rad cap or hoses, water pump, thermostat, etc. There's too many thing that would have to be checked, including pulling possible trouble codes.

I don’t know what a DIYer but I’m not lol. Thanks for the info and no it’s not coming from the tailpipe just the hood on the passenger side coming up by the tire and hood. I will take it to another mechanic and ask I have been too 2 already and they told me one thing and I paid for them to do it and it’s still the same problem.
