Can I fix my old and new keys to work together?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday I thought I had lost my car keys so I had the locksmith come and
he made me new keys on the spot.  I am not a car person so I took the
cheapest option which was just a plain key with no remote or anything.  He
also said that he had to make two keys for it to work.  So after all that and
$400 later, today I find my keys :(  Now the old key will turn the elctric on in
the car but the remote will not unlock and the old key will not start the car
either.  My question is: 1- can I make both the old and new keys work, I
would love to have a spare or 2- Can I just get the old key to work or 3-  Can
I get a fob off amazon that I can program to my car that I can just add on my
keychain?  Thank you for any assistance

I think you can get the old 3rd key to work. You always need two working to do it yourself. You will have to go through the programming procedure listed in the owners manual or you can find directions online. Look for directions on a 2012 ford.
