Convertible top left latch goes up before the top is fully down. How to fix?

Asked by Apr 04, 2015 at 10:43 AM about the 2004 BMW 3 Series 330Ci Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had new pump put in.  Goes down with no problem.  Almost closes when going up, but
then left latch goes up right before the top completely goes down...then stops completely
in open position.

sounds like the same problem i have with my 2001 325ci the left and right locking mechamisms are damaged, part of the locks are plastic they get brittle with age crack and break away, thus not being able to finish its tighting sequense which pulls the top down that last 6 inches, and then secures the locks into the top of the frame, and sucks everything down tight, couldnt find after market or wrecking yard parts, had to go to the dealer for factory parts,$640.00 per side, made me sick to rite out the check ! told the parts manager thats hiway robbery!!
